RCSS update: August 2021

Dear Friend

The past two months have been particularly challenging for us in South Africa. You may have read about the rise in the Covid-19 cases, lockdowns, looting and violence. Fortunately, Cape Town has been relatively unaffected by the civil unrest. Despite this, everyone is feeling the effects of the economic downturn. There are many reasons to be anxious about the future, yet we pray to the Lord: “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust” (Psalm 91:2).

~ New member candidates, Bryan and Yona.
~ A family able to move back to Cape Town.
~ A new elder.
~ A newly re-worked website.
~ Strengthening ties with the URCNA.
~ Need for additional elders and deacons.
~ Unemployed and underemployed members.
~ Members exposed to taxi violence.
~ Members recovering from Covid-19.
~ Members recovering from trauma.

As usual, we highlight our ongoing financial needs. If you are able, please consider helping to meet our projected annual donor target shortfall of R270 000/$18 500. Please note that the details for USA donors have changed per below. Our new “conduit church” is Grace United Reformed Church in Torrance, California.

Yours in the service of Christ

Rev. Simon Jooste
