Pastor Chris Gordon and Pastor Dan Borvan discuss the importance of preaching from the perspective that the Bible progressively reveals more and more about the salvation of Christ. They talk about how accurately to apply that knowledge to the Christian life. The conversation extends to concern over the artificial presentation of Jesus in many churches today, underscoring the significance of redemptive historical preaching. In a time when many Christians are beaten down by the culture, they discuss how important it is to refer to Scripture to remind believers to take comfort that we are safe in Christ, no matter what happens in this world.
In the second video, Chris and Dan continue their discussion on redemptive historical preaching. They take a realistic look at the problem of sin and discuss how preaching Romans 7 and Romans 8 can instill a balance of repentance and comfort in the Lord. They look at the Canons of Dort, break down where true biblical obedience comes from, and discuss the hope of knowing that Christians can, Lord willing, actively conform to the image of Christ by the Spirit.
