Dear Friend in Christ,
We believe and confess that our holy church is preserved against the rage of the world, even though it may appear very small in the eyes of men – as though it were snuffed out (Belgic Confession Article 27). We rejoice that the Lord continues to extend the Great Commission in the hostile context of Cape Town, South Africa.
Shamoun Khaqan, his wife Zubeida, and their three daughters, Milena, Aviana, and Alana (pictured), have been attending RCSS for months now. Shamoun (native Pakistani) and Zubeida (native African) relocated to Cape Town from Eswatini (Swaziland) at the beginning of this year in search of a solid church.
The Lord has also brought Shongy Phiri to us after she discovered the riches of the Reformed tradition online during Covid. Shongy is a native of Malawi, having lived in South Africa for the past 13 years. As of two years ago, when her sister-in-law passed, Shongy is the caregiver of her brother’s children, Bianna (4) and Joshua (2) (pictured below).
Both the Khaqans and Phiris bring great joy to the RCSS fellowship. We look forward to completing membership classes through the Heidelberg Catechism with Shamoun, Zubeida, Milena, and Shongy.
Please pray that the Lord would further add to our number and bless the planned new work in Somerset West.
