RCSS update: November 2023

Dear Friend in Christ

In Matthew 9:37-38 Jesus declared: “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest.” For years we have been praying for more skilled labourers to serve RCSS, especially after conceiving of the vision for African Reformed Churches (ARC).

On 1 November 2023, native South African and Westminster Seminary California 2022 graduate Alex Hewitson (pictured) joined RCSS to help launch ARC. Alex previously worked as a Chartered Accountant before moving to the US to earn his MDIV. Since returning to South Africa, Alex has worked at a Reformed church plant, while lecturing Greek, Hebrew, and Biblical Studies at Mukhanyo Theological College. Alex will now help to launch ARC by serving in various capacities with a view to ordained ministry. Alex’s position with ARC relies on domestic and overseas donations.

Please pray for RCSS regarding:

  • Financial stability.
  • New elders and deacons.
  • Strengthening ties with United Reformed Churches in North America and other North American Presbyterian and Reformed Council churches.

Please pray for ARC regarding:

  • Funding, particularly for Alex.
  • Our next ARC meeting on 27 November.
  • Relationships with local and national churches.
